Glock Faces Would-Be Class Action Alleging Gun Blowout Defect

A former police officer has adequately pleaded claims against Glock Inc. on the third try, alleging on behalf of a proposed class that the company concealed a chamber defect that can cause guns to explode, a federal court in California ruled.

At this stage of the litigation, the claims aren’t time-barred because Steven C. Johnson plausibly alleged he couldn’t have discovered the defect sooner, Judge William H. Orrick said Wednesday for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Johnson sued more than three years after purchasing his gun, according to the court.
