General Mills Says Cereal Label Suit Should Be Tossed for Good

General Mills Sales Inc. asked a federal court in California to toss for good a lawsuit that accuses it of deceptively marketing some of its cereals.

Beverly Truxel and Stephen Hadley alleged General Mills deceptively markets some Cheerio’s, Chex, and other cereals with health and wellness claims despite their high sugar content. Excessive sugar is linked to a diabetes and a host of other health problems, they said.

The suit is one of what’s expected to be a growing number of suits over the amount of sugar in food and drinks.
