GAF Materials Corp. says it has reached a “fair” tentative settlement that would resolve a certified class suit alleging it manufactured and sold defective roofing shingles (Posey v. Bldg. Materials, D.S.C., No. 8:11-m\nn-02000-JMC).
“We can confirm that GAF has reached a tentative agreement to resolve the ongoing class action litigation that was consolidated before the U.S. District Court in Greenville, South Carolina regarding its Timberline shingles,” Jeff Baum, a spokesman for the company, said July 24.
Baum declined though to disclose the settlement’s exact terms.
Attorneys representing the plaintiffs did not immediately return e-mail requests for comment.
