Frito-Lay ‘Hint of Lime’ Tostitos Have but a Trace, Suit Alleges

“Hint of Lime” Tostitos have only a “trace amount” of lime, but the packaging leads consumers to believe they have more of the desired fruit ingredient, according to a new proposed class lawsuit against Frito-Lay North America Inc.

The labels mislead consumers about the corn chips’ nutritive value and flavor, Rachael Barnett alleges in a lawsuit filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.

Consumers want to indulge while assuaging their snack guilt by consuming treats that contain ingredients associated with health benefits, the complaint says.
