Ford’s View on Product Suits Wrong, Auto Group, Others Say (1)

Ford Motor Co.‘s proposed test for determining where injured plaintiffs may sue product makers would bring vast changes to the civil justice system and shouldn’t be adopted, the Center for Auto Safety told the U.S. Supreme Court.

A coalition of 39 states and the District of Columbia also weighed in against Ford’s position, saying states have “strong sovereign and constitutional interests in ensuring that their own courts remain open to citizens injured within their borders.”

Even an industry association, the National Association of Home Builders, supported the plaintiffs in a brief Monday.
