Ford Recalls Over 200,000 SUVs Due to Engine Stalling Problems

Ford Motor Co. is recalling 133,227 model year 2013-2014 Ford Escapes as well as 70,209 MY2005-2008 Ford Escape hybrid and 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner hybrid vehicles due to potential problems with the engines stalling.

Ford announced the recall of the 2013-2014 Ford Escapes Aug. 8.

Splices in the engine wiring harness not being properly crimped, which can lead to high resistance in engine sensor circuits and resulting in reduced engine power, hesitation or stalling.

Ford instructed dealers in an Aug. 8 letter to replace the affected crimped splices with new splices.
