Ford Cleared of $11M Asbestos Verdict in Mechanic’s Suit

An $11 million jury verdict against Ford Motor Co. in an asbestos exposure case was properly set aside for lack of evidence, New York’s high court affirmed.

The widow of Arthur Juni, a mechanic who worked for decades on brakes and clutches on Ford vehicles, didn’t submit scientific proof that his exposures were a substantial contributing factor in the development of his illness, the New York Court of Appeals said.

Two experts testified for Juni’s estate that cumulative asbestos exposures caused his disease.
