Ford Can’t Topple $9.1M Asbestos Jury Award

Ford Motor Co. will remain on the hook for a $9.1 million jury award in favor of widow of a car mechanic who died of mesothelioma.

Larry Knecht’s wife brought suit alleging her husband’s cancer was caused by a lifetime of working with Ford’s asbestos-containing brakes and clutches.

Reviewing all the evidence presented at trial it is clear that a reasonable jury would have returned the verdict this jury did, Judge Ferris W. Wharton said in denying Ford’s attempt to get the verdict overturned.
