Ford Again Urges SCOTUS to Strictly Limit Where It Can Be Sued

A court outside a company’s home state can hear a case against it only if the company’s actions there caused the harm, Ford Motor Co. reiterated in a brief to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The automaker’s “causal link” standard for specific personal jurisdiction has drawn criticism from consumer advocates, state governments, and law professors. Even the U.S. government and other Ford supporters have outlined less restrictive standards.
