Fiat Chrysler Sued Over Excessive Oil Consumption in Jeeps

Engine flaws in certain Jeep vehicles cause oil to leak, burn off, and be consumed at an abnormally high rate, according to a new lawsuit against FCA US LLC in federal court in California.

The defect affects Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Renegade models since 2015, and Jeep Compass models since 2017, George and Lora Gordon alleged Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

The oil consumption defect can cause damage to the point that the entire engine needs to be replaced, the suit alleges.
