Fiat Chrysler Oil-Guzzling Settlement Gets Final Nod From Judge

FCA US LLC and drivers who alleged their Jeeps and other vehicles needed excessive amounts of oil secured final approval of a class settlement providing warranty extensions, engine part replacement, repairs, and $8 million for reimbursement of towing and rental costs.

Owners and those who leased affected vehicles alleged a defect in the 2.4L Tigershark engine can cause unexpected shutdowns, creating a safety hazard. The defect also causes excessive oil to be released into the exhaust system, leading to high emissions, they said.
