Fiat Chrysler Beats Drivers’ Appeal in Jeep-Hacking Class Action

Drivers alleging they paid thousands of dollars too much for FCA US LLC vehicles because of a security flaw in the infotainment system lack standing to sue because they failed to show they had overpaid, the Seventh Circuit affirmed.

Brian Flynn and the others sued Fiat Chrysler and uConnect system maker Harman International Industries Inc. shortly after publication of a 2015 Wired magazine article. In the magazine’s experiment, researchers were able to access a Jeep Cherokee’s computer system and take control of many of its functions.
