Ferrero Stops Belgium Plant on Ongoing Salmonella Investigation

Ferrero said it’s temporarily suspending operations at its plant in Arlon, Belgium citing an ongoing salmonella investigation, according to a statement.

The Italian candy maker also said the entire plant’s production of Kinder Surprise, Kinder Mini Eggs, Kinder Surprise Maxi 100g and Kinder Schokobons is being recalled.

The move comes just before Easter holidays. The Arlon plant accounts for around 7% of total volumes of Kinder products manufactured globally on a yearly basis, Ferrero said.
