FCA Faces Trial Over Injury From Airborne Car as TRW Exits

A driver may proceed to trial against FCA US LLC on claims that her Jeep Liberty failed to protect her when an airborne car struck it, because the impact forces in the accident weren’t necessarily unforeseeable to the company, a federal court in Colorado ruled.

But TRW Vehicle Safety Systems, which supplied optional side-curtain airbags for the 2007 Liberty and was later acquired by ZF Friedrichshafen AG, can’t be held liable as a co-designer of the safety system, Judge Marcia S.
