Explosives Maker Dyno Nobel Sued by EPA Over Discharges

The EPA sued explosives manufacturer Dyno Nobel Inc. April 15 over two Missouri facilities’ alleged discharge of pollutants into U.S. waters.

The complaint alleges the company’s discharges from its Carthage and Louisiana, Mo., plants violate the Clean Water Act.

The government also asserts that Dyno Nobel is in violation of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act by generating and disposing of hazardous waste at the facilities without the necessary permits.

The Environmental Protection Agency alleges the Carthage site discharges pollutants into Center Creek, and the Louisiana facility discharges into Buffalo Creek and the Mississippi River.
