Expedia Sheds Nearly All Claims in Tax, Fee Overcharge Suit

Expedia Inc. and related online travel sites avoided almost all claims in a proposed class suit alleging they schemed to charge fraudulent taxes and fees.

Patricia Woodell sued Expedia, EAN.com LP, Travelscape LLC, and Hotels.com, alleging she was charged excess “taxes and fees” for a hotel room booked through Reservations.com.

Woodell alleged the defendants charged consumers extra taxes and fees above what was owed to any government entity and kept the remainder.
