Ex-MLB Player, Franchisee Hits McDonald’s With Race Bias Suit

McDonald’s USA LLC is facing a civil rights suit by a Black franchise owner and former major league baseball player who alleges the company targeted him for speaking out publicly about unfair treatment of Black owners, according to a complaint filed Tuesday in the Northern District of Ohio.

Herbert L. Washington alleges McDonald’s purposefully steered him into stores in distressed, predominantly Black neighborhoods, knowing they are less profitable than stores in more affluent communities.
