Four consumers alleging Evenflo Co. falsely marketed its ‘Big Kid’ booster seat as safe urged the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation to combine the consumer suits in federal court in Massachusetts.
The company touted its booster seat as “side impact tested” and, until recently, as safe for children as light as 30 pounds, the plaintiffs allege. The Big Kid seat is intended for use with an adult lap-and-shoulder belt. It raises the child so the car’s restraint system will fit better.
