Epson Printer Cartridge Lawsuit Voluntarily Dismissed

Two plaintiffs have voluntarily dismissed their claims alleging that Epson America Inc. systematically disabled Epson printers when owners attempted to use different brands of ink cartridges, according to a filing in federal court in California.

William Mondigo and Richard Famiglietti alleged in a proposed class suit in October that Epson America, a unit of Seiko Epson Corp., delivered software or firmware updates to Epson printers that purposely disabled those with non-Epson printer cartridges installed.

This ruined printers or forced consumers to buy more expensive Epson ink, they alleged.
