EPA staff are continuing to work on new and existing chemicals despite the government shutdown, a top agency official said Wednesday.
Lynn Ann Dekleva, deputy assistant administrator for chemical safety and pollution prevention, said she doesn’t know how long the Environmental Protection Agency can keep staff working.
But for now, only a few dozen staff have been furloughed and only because their duties weren’t focused on the chemical office’s regulatory work, Dekleva said on the sidelines of the US Chamber of Commerce’s Chemistry Solutions Forum 2025.
