The EPA is proposing lowering the maximum amount of lead permitted in floor and windowsill dust after contractors have finished lead-paint abatement projects in homes or child care facilities.
The “clearance levels” would drop from 40 micrograms to 10 micrograms per square foot for lead in floor dust and from 250 micrograms to 100 micrograms per square foot for windowsill dust, under the proposed rule (RIN 2070-AK50) the Environmental Protection Agency released Wednesday.
