The EPA is warning farmworkers about the risks of the pesticide dimethyl tetrachloroterephthalate while it takes on further steps to address the issue, the agency said Monday.
Significant health risks exist for pregnant individuals and their developing babies who are exposed to Dacthal, an herbicide registered to control weeds in both agricultural and non-agricultural settings, the EPA said.
The agency has also issued a letter to AMVAC, the sole manufacturer of Dacthal, that covers the risks the agency found and that it is pursuing further action, according to the EPA.
