Electricity Maine LLC and related entities secured final federal court approval of a settlement pool of up to $14 million to resolve claims they overcharged ratepayers by $58 million after improperly enticing them to switch to their electricity-supply services.
The electric utility will also cover $2.7 million in attorneys’ fees, pay each of the four named plaintiffs a $5,000 incentive award, and reimburse class counsel for $159,000 in costs, under the terms of the agreement approved Monday by the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine.
