Edgewell Sued Over Benzene in Banana Boat Spray Sunscreens

Edgewell Personal Care Co. and affiliated companies must establish a medical monitoring program for Banana Boat spray sunscreen consumers, who face health risks because the aerosol products were contaminated with the carcinogen benzene, a new proposed class action says.

Luis Chabla’s lawsuit, filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, follows a report by online pharmacy Valisure, which detected high levels of benzene in several brands and batches of sunscreen.
