Ecolab Sheds Waldorf Astoria Hotel Worker’s Chemical Burn Suit

Ecolab Inc. isn’t liable to a dishwasher at the former Waldorf Astoria Hotel who alleged an Ecolab cleaning product caused severe chemical burns that required amputation of his right leg, a federal trial court in New York said.

Robert De La Cruz can’t show Ecolab had a duty to warn him of the alleged burn risk because he failed to show the company knew or should have known its Apex Presoak could cause chemical burns, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York said.
