Pesticide Makers May Face Leukemia Experts in Suit (Corrected)

A golf groundskeeper’s estate was improperly barred from using expert evidence linking pesticides to an increased risk of leukemia in a suit against Corteva Agriscience LLC, Monsanto Co., Bayer Corp., and others, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court said Tuesday.

But the companies should have another chance to fight the expert in the trial court, the justices said in a splintered opinion.

A trial court’s proper function is “to ensure that the expert has applied a generally accepted scientific methodology to reach his or her scientific conclusions,” Justice Christine Donohue said for the court. But trial courts “may not question ...
