Diageo Deceptively Markets Ron Zacapa 23 Rum, Lawsuit Alleges

Diageo North America Inc. tricks consumers into believing its Ron Zacapa 23 Centenario Rum has been aged for 23 years, when it contains a mix of rums—some aged for as few as six years, a new proposed class action alleges.

Diageo marketed and sold the rum with a bold “23” on the front of the packaging, which conveys to a reasonable consumer that the rum was aged for 23 years before bottling and sale, Perry M. Fischer alleges.
