DeMert Sued Over Benzene in ‘Not Your Mother’s’ Dry Shampoos

Consumer suits over benzene in spray dry shampoo products continue to pile up, as a New York woman alleges DeMert LLC failed to disclose the presence of the carcinogen in its “Not Your Mother’s” product line.

DeMert bills its dry shampoos as a “superior quality hair care line for tweens, teens, and young adults,” leading consumers to believe the products can be used safely, Mindy Collette says in a proposed class suit filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
