Cree Sheds Individual Claims Left in LED Bulb Deception Suit

A California man failed to show he relied on Cree Inc.'s claims about the life and energy savings of its LED bulbs, a California federal court said, dismissing his individual claims and bringing the suit to a close.

Jeff Young alleged he and others overpaid because of false representations about bulb longevity and cost savings.

His class claims were axed in January, when the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California barred his product failure expert and said he couldn’t show the common legal or factual issues needed for class certification.
