CPSC Publishes Toy Testing Requirements For Third-Party Conformity Assessment Labs

The Consumer Product Safety Commission Aug. 31 published toy testing requirements for accreditation of third-party conformity assessment bodies (76 Fed. Reg. 54218).

The approach is similar to CPSC-approved laboratory accreditation requirements for compliance with safety regulations on lead paint, cribs, pacifiers, rattles, and small parts; children’s metal jewelry; and other children’s products (37 PSLR 1115, 10/26/09).

The requirements build on and use existing systems of conformity assessment based on international standards and internationally recognized accrediting bodies.
