Costco, Trident Seafoods Sued Over Fish Oil Capsules

Costco Wholesale Corp. and Trident Seafoods Corp. were hit with a proposed class suit alleging they deceptively marketed a fish oil supplement.

Kirkland Wild Alaskan Fish Oil capsules, produced by Trident and sold by Costco, contain a substantially lower amount of omega fatty acids than what’s represented on the label, New York resident Norman Leibowitz alleged.

The suit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York joins others against makers and sellers of dietary supplements, estimated to be a $39 billion a year industry.
