Conagra, Plaintiffs Settle Wesson Oil ‘Natural’ Suit

Conagra Foods Inc. and class members have resolved litigation over Wesson Oil marketing, with a settlement that includes injunctive relief valued at $27 million.

Robert Briseno and others alleged Conagra misled them into overpaying for “natural” Wesson Oil that contained genetically modified ingredients.

The settlement also includes money damages, according to March 12 filings in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

It comes after eight years of litigation, including Conagra’s unsuccessful attempt for U.S. Supreme Court review of a Ninth Circuit decision that upheld certification of 11 statewide classes.
