Seagram’s, Like Canada Dry, Will Stop Touting Real Ginger

Coca-Cola Co. and consumers got early approval for a settlement calling for the beverage giant to pay $2.45 million and stop saying its Seagram’s Ginger Ale products are “Made with Real Ginger.”

Jackie Fitzhenry-Russell filed a proposed class suit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. She alleges Coke misleadingly sold its ginger ale because it doesn’t contain “real ginger” as reasonable consumers understand that term.

Nor do the sodas provide the health benefits consumers expect from real ginger, she said. Coke denied the allegations.
