Coke Deceives Public About Soda Risks, Suit Says

Coca-Cola Co. and an industry trade group purposely mislead the public about the health risks of sugary soda, despite scientific evidence linking sugar-sweetened drinks to diabetes and other diseases, two African-American pastors and a public health group allege in a suit (Lamar v. Coca-Cola Co., D.C. Super. Ct. Civ. Div., complaint filed 7/13/17).

Coca-Cola and the American Beverage Association deny established science and deceptively switch the focus from drinks to inactivity as the key driver of obesity and other health problems, the Praxis Project and Pastors Delman L. Coates and William H. Lamar IV allege.
