Coca-Cola Fails to Shake Suit Over ‘100% Natural Flavors’ Label

The Coca-Cola Co. must face claims that it intentionally misrepresented some of its Sprite and Fanta drinks to consumers as made with “100% Natural Flavors.”

The consumer who brought the suit sufficiently alleged the artificial ingredients in the challenged products function as flavors, and that the company knew the natural flavors labeling and marketing were false, Judge George H. Wu of the US District Court for the Central District of California said. In a tentative ruling Wednesday, he partially denied Coca-Cola’s bid to toss the suit.
