Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is endangering the public by refusing to expand a recall of models with defective passenger-side air bags, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.
Chrysler Group LLC is expanding a recall for Ram pickup trucks and not for five other vehicles, according to documents filed with the auto safety agency Dec. 5. In response, NHTSA’s deputy director, David Friedman, said the agency is reviewing the decision “to ensure that Chrysler shares our sense of urgency in the interest of public safety.”
