Chipotle Keeps Cash Patrons’ Shortchange Suit in Federal Court

Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. won its bid to keep a lawsuit in federal court alleging it systematically short-changes cash customers, as a federal court in Pennsylvania said the fast-casual chain moved the proposed class suit from a state court on time.

Plaintiffs Megan Fox and Bridget McMahon say Chipotle violated the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law and converted patrons’ funds by rounding their change down to the nearest dollar and not giving them the balance of the purchase price.
