Chevron Oronite Co. is owed indemnification by a company it hired to provide welding services over an asbestos exposure suit brought by a welder, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana said.
The contractor can’t escape liability even if Chevron Oronite’s negligence contributed to the injury, the court said.
The contractor, a corporate predecessor of Jacobs Field Services North America, agreed by contract to indemnify Chevron Oronite Co. against loss, damage, injury, liability, or death connected with its performance under the contract.
