Chevrolet Bolt Battery Fire, Range Concerns Draw Lawsuit (1)

Chevy Bolt EV buyers sued General Motors LLC in an Illinois federal court, alleging they weren’t told about a battery flaw that makes the recalled cars fire-prone unless they undergo a software fix that lowers the battery capacity but reduces the advertised range of the car.

GM was well aware of the importance that consumers placed on an electric car’s battery range, and marketed the Bolt accordingly, Andres Torres alleges in a proposed class suit filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
