Champion Petfoods Gets Most Claims Tossed in Cat Food Label Suit

Champion Pet Foods USA, Inc. shed most claims in a proposed class suit alleging it deceptively markets high-end Orijen and Acana cat food without disclosing that the products contain heavy metals.

Deborah Leppert and Zachary Chernik sued in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, seeking to represent cat owners in Ohio and Illinois, respectively.

The suit is part of what is expected to be a growing number of would-be consumer class suits challenging pet food labeling.
