CenturyLink Gets Final OK for Internet, Phone Billing Class Deal

Telecommunications provider CenturyLink Inc.'s agreement to resolve class allegations of improper billing practices with an $18.5 million fund inclusive of fees and costs merits final approval, a federal court in Minnesota ruled.

The company also promised to make any necessary changes so it can certify its compliance with state laws.

Residential and business customers of CenturyLink who say they were overbilled are entitled to a $30 flat fee or at least 40% of the amount of documented overpayments under the settlement, Judge Michael J. Davis said Dec. 4 for the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
