A Caribbean resort’s settlement of a family’s bed bug infestation claims must be looked at again because it provides a 600 percent greater distribution of funds for adults than children bitten by the insects, a federal court in the U.S. Virgin Islands ruled.
The Jan. 11 decision by the U.S. District Court for the District of the Virgin Islands rejected a bid by Shantell and Jeffrey Piper, of New York, for approval of a settlement with SPM Resorts Inc. and other defendants over insects at a hotel in St. Thomas, V.I.
