Carfax Inc. publishes inaccurate vehicle history reports that lower cars’ resale or trade-in value, and doesn’t provide consumers with a way to dispute them, a proposed class action alleges.
The reports include information such as title history, structural damage, and service records that Carfax receives from multiple sources.
Through its marketing campaigns, Carfax has made obtaining a vehicle history report an essential step in the buying process, according to the complaint filed Nov. 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
