Car Owners Sue GM for $10 Billion Over Losses on 27 Million Recalled Cars

General Motors Co. was hit with its biggest suit so far over serial recalls, a proposed class action brought in the Southern District of New York on behalf of drivers of 27 million vehicles, seeking more than $10 billion in compensation for fallen car prices (In re General Motors LLC Ignition Switch Litig., S.D.N.Y., 14-02543, complaint filed 10/14/14).

The would-be class suit against GM aims to include everyone who bought or leased a recalled car from July 2009 to July 2014 and still owns it, or sold it after mid-February when the recalls started, or had an accident ...
