Bristol-Myers Squibb Breast Implant Warranty Claim Advances

Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. and Medical Engineering Corp. must face a woman’s suit alleging silicone gel leakage from flawed breast implants caused a host of health problems, a federal court in Louisiana said.

Sarah Dubroc adequately pleaded a breach of warranty claim under the Louisiana Product Liability Act, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana said.

Dubroc alleged she underwent breast augmentation surgery in 1989, at which time she believed she was receiving saline-filled breast implants.
