BMW Owes $450,000 to New York Jewelry Company for Car Fire (1)

BMW of North America LLC must pay $450,00 to New York City-based Zsa Zsa Jewels Inc. for a fire that damaged a leased car and the jeweler’s inventory inside it, a Brooklyn jury said.

The tire pressure monitor system in the leased X3 was defectively manufactured and/or designed, and wasn’t reasonably safe, the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York jury said Dec. 9.

The defect was a substantial factor in causing Zsa Zsa’s damages, the jury concluded.
