Bimbo Bakeries False Label Class Deal Scuttled Over Notice

Bimbo Bakeries USA Inc. and consumers alleging it deceptively marketed Sara Lee, Entenmann’s, Stroehmann, and other baked good brands failed to get a California federal court’s blessing for a class settlement that provided label changes.

Notice of the injunctive-relief deal on class counsel’s website is insufficient to protect absent class members, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California said in rejecting the motion for preliminary approval.
