A sports medicine physician associated with the “Biggest Loser” television show can’t proceed with defamation claims against a contestant, a federal court in New York ruled.
Robert Huizenga claimed Joelle Gwynn falsely accused him in New York Post articles of giving her and other contestants on the show weight loss substances.
The April 16 decision dismissed his claims as insufficient to establish that she knowingly and maliciously made false comments.
The NBC television series, which was cancelled in 2017 after 17 seasons, tracked the weight loss of contestants over months of exercise and diet regimens.
