Baxter, Spartronics Reach Kidney Machine Patent Settlement

Baxter Healthcare Corp. and Spartronics Frederick LLC agreed to dismiss patent infringement claims related to a kidney treatment machine under a settlement agreement approved Thursday by the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

The court documents are silent on the terms of the settlement and counsel for the parties didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

The suit alleges Spartronics infringed Baxter’s patents by manufacturing monitors in the U.S. under contract with B. Braun Medical Inc. The monitors are a component of B. Braun’s Omni blood purification machine used to treat kidney failure.
