Barilla Settlement Over Oversized Pasta Boxes Gets Final OK

Barilla America Inc. and consumers won final approval of a settlement that resolves allegations the pasta maker tricked customers with oversized boxes that made it look like there was more inside.

The settlement agreement provides no money damages to the class members. Instead, Barilla agreed to modify the pasta packaging to include a minimum fill line and a disclaimer noting the empty space in the box.

Additionally, the settlement provides $450,000 for fees and costs to the plaintiffs’ attorneys, and $1,500 incentive awards to the named plaintiffs.
